Strangers in a Strange Band: Memphis Band Kindness of Strangers Online Travis Bio

Travis has been drumming for about 15 years and starting playing gigs in pubs and clubs the moment he turned 18. Travis has played drums and synths for Perth (that's Perth, Western Australia) bands; Mustpaha Mond, Soulzajah and Superfly amongst many others. He has also gigged with DJs and electronic groups. He was gigging around Perth until the day he left in Feb 2004, heading for "the birthplace of Rock'n'roll and the home of the blues". Since arriving Travis has played casually with a few Memphis legends. He gigged with former Stax artist, Louis Paul, and had great fun sitting in with The Billy Gibson Group a couple of times. He has now found a musical home with Kindness of Strangers.

Travis has a background and influences from almost all styles, including jazz, funk, rock, punk, blues, fusion, reggae, soul, jungle/d'n'b', industrial, hiphop, breakbeats etc. As with any musician it is almost impossible to completely classify his musical origins.

Travis taught drums for about 10 years while in Perth, but is now concentrating on his own music since arriving in Memphis.
